Description

Vitamin D3 or cholecalciferol is a hormone involved in the mineralization of bones by its action of calcium fixation on mineralized tissues (bones, cartilage and teeth). Vitamin D is a fat-soluble hormone found in food and in the human body in the form of a precursor transformed by the action of UVB rays. Only certain foods contain vitamin D, specifically meats, eggs and milk.

Lack of sun exposure, low-meat diet can lead to a deficiencies of vitamin D. Nearly 80% of the population is deficient, mostly elderly people.
