The ketogenic diet
If our cells need sugar, the sugars provided by plants, vegetables and fruits with interesting properties should be enough, as part of a balanced diet, including good quality fatty acids and protein.
This is no longer the case today, excess sugar is everywhere, and in particular fast and / or processed sugars. It has become a major cause of illnesses which would be preventable by a simple rebalancing diet.
Ketogenic diet is based on a low consumption of carbohydrates (sugars) and an increaseconsumption of lipids, which become the new energy substrates of the body.
Indeed, if we drastically reduce the sugar in our diet and increase fatty substances, the body will adapt by producing compounds derived from fat: ketones. These will be able to replace the energy intake provided before by carbohydrates.
No calorie restriction
For decades, each new season has brought more or less eccentric diets, almost always based on deprivation or imbalance, and always leading to a dramatic failure, a regain of weight, and a new weight sometimes even higher than the before.
The mechanism of these failures is known: our brain is programmed to face famines. If these famines are severe and often occur, the brain will order the body to make "provisions" just in case. Are you starving? Your body plans to keep a little extra fat when you return to normal in anticipation of these deprivations. The more starving you are, the more fat you stores.
During a ketogenic diet, calorie intake is not restricted, so there are no frustrations.
