What is Glutathione?

Glutathione is a powerful antioxidant, naturally and endogenously available in the body. Thanks to its strong reducing power, it helps to slow down cellular oxidation. It also plays an important role in supporting the liver in its detoxification work. Thus, it improves the elimination of toxins such as alcohol, heavy metals (mercury, lead, cadmium), nanoparticles from atmospheric pollution, tobacco, pesticides, and certain hepatotoxic drugs such as paracetamol. Finally, it participates in the recycling of vitamins C and E to maintain their activities within the tissues.

Composition : It is a small, water-soluble peptide made up of three amino acids: L-glutamine, L-glycine and L-cysteine.

N-acetyl cysteine (NAC) is a synthetic derivative of cysteine that is rapidly converted to cysteine once in the body. It is therefore a direct precursor participating in the synthesis of glutathione.
